Renato Montemayor

Rene has over four decades of experience in various leadership roles, eventually becoming Managing Director/ President/CEO of two of the largest food companies— Purefoods Corp. and Universal Robina Corp.

Rene spent most of his career in Ayala Corp. (1974-2001). In the holding company, he worked in finance, corporate planning, and investments. In Ayala’s Purefoods subsidiary, he moved up from CFO, BU Head of the largest operations—processed meats and poultry, to eventually President/CEO, growing Purefoods into one of the most profitable companies in the Ayala Group. From Purefoods, he joined Universal Robina Corp. as Managing Director/EVP. While in URC, the company launched new products including C2, the dominant bottled tea drink. He also worked with his people in growing revenues and profits in the sugar and animal feeds businesses.

Today, he facilitates workshops, particularly the 4 Disciplines of Execution, where he is the lead consultant. He is also the Vice- Chairman of General Milling Corp. and board member of Savvysherpa Asia.

Rene enjoys reading novels and listening to music. He occasionallyserves as commentator at mass. When possible, he manages to sneakin a round of high handicap golf with former classmates. Rene is married to Consy and they have three children: Caloy, Grace, and Mary—and seven grandchildren.
